Postgame 2 90 mins.
Materials: Mailing envelopes.
Objectives:
Students discuss the game.
Bellwork: 10 mins.
In 1 sentence summarize your experience of the game.
Activities: 70 mins.
Ask the kids to come up with questions for a discussion. Split the class into two groups. Have one have a discussion and the other half observe. Ask them to discuss for 10-15 minutes. Then have them switch. After both discussions ask them to talk about that experience, what they learned from watching other people discuss. What could they personally have done better, or what could the group have done better?
Ask the students to take the rest of the time to write their own memories of the game. Have them write themselves a letter about the game that you will send them in one year. They can write to their future selves, just write a reflection, or do a combination.
At the end have them place the letters in the envelope, and address them to a place where they are likely to get the letters in a year.
Mail out the letters a year later.
Conclusion: 10 mins.
Ask each student what the best moment and the best thing that they learned from the game was. Ask them if they could change one thing about the game, what would it be (whether it be the game itself or how they played it.)
